Where to book your Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Ride
Many different companies fly in Cappadocia, with more than a hundred balloons flying every day during the high season! So, when it comes to choosing your flight, you’ll be spoilt for choice. You can choose online among many options or, as we did, you can reserve your flight from the hotel you’re staying in.
Although, during the high season from July to August, there’s a very high demand and they may run out of places. If you’re staying for a short time (4 days or less), you should book your flight online to be sure you will be able to fly (weather allowing).
When we were planning our trip, we booked the flight via our hotel, the Tourist Hotel & Resort which is affiliated with Saray Balloons. If you are choosing to fly with them, the bus will pick you up directly from the hotel. It’s very practical, especially If you don’t have a car.
Something you should know when making the reservation is that there are so many balloons flying during the high season, that they take off in two separate shifts. With that in mind, if you want an empty sky you should fly at 6 AM. Otherwise, go for the second shift starting from 6.30 AM.
From 6.45 to 7.30 AM the sky gets pretty crowded.
The cost of a Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Ride varies depending on the duration and number of passengers. Going from 150€ up to 600€ if you’re booking the solo experience. The duration varies from 1 hour up to 3 hours for the deluxe experience.
Whichever option you will choose, remember that the weather conditions may come in the way, preventing the balloons take off. It may be because of the winds, the snow, or even the rain.
Prepare your ride
Balloons fly at sunrise. That means you will have a wake-up call at 5 AM to take the bus. Cappadocia is a desert land. As such, temperatures can go very low during the night. Don’t forget to bring a warm coat or sweatshirt for your Cappadocia hot air balloon ride.
It’s also recommended to dress comfortably. I have a series of funny shoots (that I won’t share, sorry :)) of me getting off the basket. And I was wearing long jeans! Anyways, a diplomatic accident was avoided, but seriously, dress comfortably, forget the beautiful flowing dresses, and keep these for the photo shooting on the ground instead. Pants and baskets are required.
Also consider bringing sunglasses, hats, and sunscreen. Depending on the formula you will choose, the ride may be long, and once the sun is higher in the sky the temperature is going to change quickly.

What if you haven’t found a spot for flying?
Or if the weather conditions did not allow the balloon’s take off during your stay?
I get it, that would be very frustrating. But Cappadocia is great even on the ground level. And eventually, there is still a way to enjoy the balloons flying, if you didn’t get your spot, take amazing photos from the ground or even rent a flying dress.
Is a Cappadocia hot air balloon ride worth the budget?
Yes! Thousand times yes!
I know 200 € is not cheap. But I think the best-invested money are those that can give you great memories and bucket list worthy moments. You won’t regret investing in this experience, believe me!
